Thématique de recherche
In order to guide my current and future research, I have adopted the perspective according to which (a) body and cognition are interdependent, (b) cognition is action-oriented, and (c) our environment is part of our cognition (Wilson, 2002). Therefore, my current main goal is to better understand how perception (online and/or anticipated) and action affect each other, and on which processes selection and execution of a specific action is based.
During my thesis, I used a specific paradigm known as a “stimulus-responses-compatibility paradigm” in which the goal was to induce a compatibility/incompatibility between the presented stimulus (manipulated on some components) and the response performed (also manipulated on some components). However, in line with ideomotor theories (Hommel, 2001) I have paid particular attention to the perceptual outcomes generated by the responses, notably by modulating their magnitudes (Parise, 2015; Walsh, 2003). The aim was to better understand how these anticipated outcomes could modulate this stimulus-response compatibility.
In fine, my goal was to understand how through the anticipation of perceptual feedbacks given by her/his own body, someone could change the spatial body representation s/he has and in turn how this altered representation could alter cognitive processes involved in the perception, the attention and the memory.
